ART 137 - Illustration3 credit hours - Two hours of lecture and two hours of studio weekly; one term. An introduction to the rendering of visual images to accompany words and ideas effectively. Develops skills for visually conveying information in books, advertising, posters, etc. Both traditional media and the computer are used. Course fee $15.
Prerequisite(s): ART 100 and ART 125 or permission of department chair.

Course Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

- Apply creative processes in image making from brainstorming ideas, sketches, revisions, feedback, reflection to final product.
- Develop technical skills with illustration materials.
- Apply formal elements and principles of design effectively to support visual content.
- Develop storytelling concepts into original ideas according to intent, audience and use.
- Develop relationships between image and text.
- Apply professional practices such as project management, communication and collaboration.
