MUS 141 - Class Piano 12 credit hours - One hour of lecture and two hours of studio weekly; one term. Teaches beginning basic keyboard techniques including sight reading of early level pieces. Play and write major and minor scales. Play chord progressions, cadences and elementary to early intermediate level repertoire. Lab fee $3.

Course Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Develop proficiency in notation, technique, articulation, and performance practice.
- Develop proficiency in technical work/finger exercises (dexterity and velocity).
- Develop proficiency in select major and minor scales.
- Develop proficiency in functional piano harmony: block chords and broken chords.
- Develop proficiency in sight reading.
- Performance of selected repertoire: classical, jazz, and commercial/popular.
