ART 148 - Intaglio Printmaking 13 credit hours - Two hours of lecture and two hours of studio weekly; one term. Study the intaglio processes of etching, drypoint and aquatint. Learn the mechanics of printmaking (working of the press, production and biting of the plate, etc.) while exploring the creative possibilities of the medium. Lab fee $75.
Prerequisite(s): ART 125 or permission of department chair.

Course Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Describe the innate characteristics of intaglio printmaking as an art medium, such as plate preparation; image creation on a plate; plate inking; and plate, paper and press interactions.
- Demonstrate proficiency in contemporary and global historical technical intaglio skills and materials, including but not limited to hard ground, soft ground, aquatint, drypoint, and engraving.
- Identify and appropriately use intaglio tools and processes.
- Develop personal goals through individualized interpretations of course projects.
- Communicate and assess visual concepts verbally during critique and in response to lectures.
