ART 235 - Sculpture 2

3 credit hours - Two hours of lecture and two hours of studio weekly; one term.
Build upon knowledge and skills acquired in ART 135 . Develop an understanding of the elements of sculptural form while investigating and refining a number of sculptural materials and processes including casting. Lab fee $65.

Prerequisite(s): ART 135  or permission of department chair.

Course Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Create comprehensive sculptural compositions applying formal elements related to additive methods.
  2. Demonstrate modeling skills through creating expressive sculptural compositions in clay using modeling tools.
  3. Identify and apply processes and techniques related to subtractive methods in three-dimensional forms.
  4. Develop balanced sculptural composition using materials and tools related to subtractive methods and processes.
  5. Cultivate knowledge using elements related to constructionist methods and techniques.
  6. Demonstrate skills using materials and tools in the development of constructionist compositions and processes.
  7. Analyze and discuss sculptural compositions using related terminology.
