ART 240 - Watercolor 23 credit hours - Two hours of lecture and two hours of studio weekly; one term. Build upon knowledge and skills learned in ART 140 . Explore a variety of techniques while working from the figure, still life, interior and landscape elements. Study the expressive potential of the medium. Lab fee $40.
Prerequisite(s): ART 140 or permission of department chair.

Course Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Develop a deeper understanding of the innate characteristics of watercolor as an art medium, including transparency vs. opacity, masking techniques, interactions with various substrates, and color mixing properties.
- Demonstrate fluency in contemporary and global historical technical skills and materials.
- Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of both traditional and experimental watercolor tools.
- Develop artwork with personal thematic content.
- Communicate and assess visual concepts verbally at an advanced level during critique and in response to lectures.
