ART 237 - Photojournalism3 credit hours - Two hours lecture and two hours of laboratory weekly; one term. Learn the process of documenting a news story using digital photography. Explore how lens perspective is used to capture and enhance visual impact, while creating a photographic essay. Lab fee $60.
Prerequisite(s): ART 120 or permission of department chair.
Note: Students are required to provide a digital single lens reflex (D-SLR) camera.

Course Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Utilize photography as a form of visual storytelling.
- Create photographic portraits for editorial assignments.
- Interpret the narrative aspects of photo essays and documentary projects.
- Create visual narratives through sequencing of photographs.
- Judge photographs based on esthetic quality.
- Analyze the conceptual, ethical, and legal implications of photographs used in the media.
