CJS 226 - Traffic and Public Safety3 credit hours - Three hours weekly; one term. Covers topics mandated by the Maryland Police Training Commission for certification as a sworn law enforcement officer. Topics include Maryland Motor Vehicle Law, enforcement of DWI regulations, traffic violations and accident investigation and reporting.
Prerequisite(s): CJS 112 .

Course Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Define traffic and public safety.
- Give an overview of Maryland Vehicle Law.
- Explain the history and structure of traffic regulations and the public safety systems in the United States and Maryland.
- Explain various traffic and public safety styles and procedures.
- Create and deliver various projects on traffic and public safety.
- Demonstrate effective police communication skills in theory and practice through competency in DEIAA.
