CJS 214 - Physical Conditioning for Law Enforcement and Firefighter/Rescue Service Personnel1 credit hour - Two hours weekly; one term. Enables prospective law enforcement officers and firefighter/rescue service personnel to develop physical fitness for their fields. Intensive fitness regimes prepare for the rigorous physical demands of these occupations. Emphasize muscular strength and endurance training, cardiovascular endurance conditioning and flexibility exercises. Work on individual weight training programs as well as participate in group conditioning activities.

Course Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Develop a fitness level that will allow them to successfully complete the specific physical fitness tests for their prospective occupations.
- Identify and discuss the principles and methods of tranining for the four major components of fitness.
- Demonstrate the proper usage of various commercial fitness equipment utlizing appropriate exercise guidelines.
- Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to develop a personal fitness program.
