CJS 260 - Terrorism/Counterterrorism3 credit hours - Three hours weekly; one term. Analyze terrorism and counterterrorism and explore contemporary issues in domestic and international contexts. Examine methods employed by law enforcement and intelligence agencies for preventing and detecting terrorism, including the collection and documentation of evidence for prosecuting terrorists. Study topics such as the media’s role in covering terrorist events, constitutional and sociological challenges in investigating terrorism in democratic societies and the implications for privacy and individual rights.

- Explain the definition, typologies, and history of terrorism.
- Describe and analyze the structure and dynamics of terrorist groups.

- Analyze the relationship between terrorism and the media.
- Analyze the relationship between terrorism, intelligence and the law.
- Define, describe and explain counterterrorism.
