DAN 105 - Beginning Tap Dance 12 credit hours - One hour of lecture and two hours of studio weekly; one term. A beginning study of the technical fundamentals of tap dance. This course will include learning basic single and double sounds and various combinations at the barre and centre. Positions of the body, use of port de bras, movement through space and learning short combinations will also be explored. May be repeated once for a total of four credit hours.

Course Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Practice basic tap rhythms and sounds
- Develop proficiency in exercises
- Strengthen technique and performance
- Combine several tap steps/sounds together to develop and perform short combinations
- Achieve the proper body alignment/position to execute the tap rhythms/steps taught in class
