DAN 121 - Beginning Modern Dance 1

2 credit hours - One hour of lecture and two hours of studio weekly; one term.
Introduction to the technique and movement vocabulary of modern dance. Emphasis is on dance fundamentals (floorwork, body alignment) and modern dance as an expressive medium. May be repeated once for a total of four credit hours.

Course Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Begin to understand the skills needed for contemporary/modern dance.

  5. Appreciate modern dance as an art form.
