DAN 132 - Beginning Jazz Dance 2

2 credit hours - One hour of lecture and two hours of studio weekly; one term.
Continuation of the study of jazz dance styles and techniques. Emphasis is on proper alignment, stylistic development and coordinated combinations. May be repeated once for a total of four credit hours.

Prerequisite(s): Any beginning-level dance course or permission of department chair.

Course Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Develop movement dynamics.
  2. Understand alignment needed  for jazz dance.
  3. Increase efficient use of the body.
  4. Demonstrate rhythmical phrasing and dynamics of jazz dance.
  5. Refine performance skills.
