HLS 211 - Intelligence Analysis and Security Management3 credit hours - Three hours weekly; one term. Examine the vital role of intelligence analysis in managing the security of terrorist attacks and other threats. Explore vulnerabilities within national defense and private sectors, and address the threats posed by terrorism, human-caused disasters and natural disasters. Engage in discussions on substantive issues related to intelligence support for homeland security measures implementd by the United States and explore the operations of the intelligence community.
Prerequisite(s): HLS 111 or permission of director.

Course Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Explain the purpose and functions of the national and international intelligence community.
- Describe the relationship between intelligence and national security.
- Analyze the national and international intelligence collection and analysis process.
- Identify the dangers associated with the politicization of intelligence.
- Interpret the concepts, tactics and differences between state-sponsorship and international terrorism.
- Solve national security problems through the use of social, legal, political and religious domains of thinking.
- Describe accountability, ethics, and civil liberities in the intelligence process.
