PHL 202 - Asian Religions3 credit hours - Three hours weekly; one term. This course meets the Arts & Humanities General Education Requirement.
Learn religions most important to cultures of India, China and Japan. Discuss readings from Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, Shintoism and other traditions.
Prerequisite(s): Eligibility for ENG 101 /ENG 101A .

Course Outcomes:
- Identify the basic philosophical worldviews underlying the major religions of Asia.
- Critically analyze important philosophical concepts associated with the major religions of Asia.
- Compare and contrast these philosophical concepts in order to identify both points of convergence and divergence between them.
- Trace the historical development of the major religions of Asia from their origins to the present day.
- Critically analyze the impact that the culture and politics of the countries into which each Asian religion has entered has had upon the development of that religion.
- Critically analyze the impact that each Asian religion has had upon the culture and politics of the countries into which it has entered.
