ASL 211 - American Sign Language 43 credit hours - Three hours weekly; one term. Build upon the skills learned from ASL 210 American Sign Language 3 , utilizing two to three role shifts, anecdotes, information sharing and rules explanation. Define and describe settings, and the function of objects, processes, and cause and effect. Discuss cultural norms and values of the deaf community.
Prerequisite(s): ASL 210 with a grade of C or better.

Course Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Communicate in conversations using advanced ASL skills, vocabulary, grammar, and non-manual signals to engage in common interactions with Deaf people.
- Integrate communication strategies to confirm, correct, describe, express concerns, give opinions, explain rules, and retell stories using the conceptual approach.
- Apply language-learning skills to interact in the Deaf community.
- Demonstrate respect for and understanding of Deaf people and ASL, with an appreciation for their linguistic and cultural diversity.
- Formulate comparisons between students’ cultural experiences and the cultural products, practices, and perspectives of Deaf communities.
