GER 111 - Elementary German 13 credit hours - Three hours weekly; one term. This course meets the Arts & Humanities General Education Requirement.
Learn basic pronunciation and grammar necessary for reading, writing and conversing in German. Not for those who have experience with the German language.
Note: This course is not for students who are already proficient in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in German.

Course Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Identify the main idea and details about familiar topics in novice-mid level written and spoken conversations and texts.
- Communicate in spontaneous spoken conversations on both familiar and everyday topics, using a variety of practiced or memorized words, phrases, simple sentences, and questions.
- Present information on familiar and cultural topics using a variety of practiced or memorized words, phrases, and simple sentences through spoken and written language.
- Combine a variety of grammar structures and vocabulary to respond to a range of novice-mid level writing and speaking prompts.
- Formulate comparisons between students’ cultural experiences and the cultural products, practices, and perspectives of German-speaking cultures.
