ITA 225 - Intermediate Italian Culture and Civilization3 credit hours - Three hours weekly; one term. Study the history, culture, literature and fine arts of Italy. Discuss the influence of artistic and political movements on contemporary Italian society. Taught in Italian.
Prerequisite(s): ITA 212 or four years of high school Italian or permission of department chair.
Note: This course is not for students who are already proficient in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Italian.
Course Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Discuss the historical foundations of the Italian nation.
- Demonstrate an understanding of historical and contemporary poetry, literature, art, and architecture of Italy.
- Describe the geography of Italy and its political, religious, and economic practices.
- Explain social dynamics in modern Italian society to include.
- Present information, concepts, and ideas to inform, explain, persuade, and narrate a variety of topics related to Italian civilization and modern culture.
