SPA 230 - Spanish for Business and Finance3 credit hours - Three hours weekly; one term. Covers business-related Spanish vocabulary and the concepts of international business and finance. Course includes a review of Spanish grammar and practice writing different types of communications in Spanish for hypothetical business situations.
Prerequisite(s): SPA 211 or three years of high school Spanish or permission of department chair.
Note: This course is not for students who are already proficient in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Spanish.
Course Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Communicate both orally and in writing to present information, explain, persuade, narrate, and hypothesize in formal business settings.
- Use specialized vocabulary related to business and finance to analyze authentic informational, financial, and marketing materials in both written and oral forms.
- Apply cultural norms in Spanish-speaking countries to interact in a culturally appropriately way in formal business environments.
