FRE 221 - Intermediate French Conversation

3 credit hours - Three hours lecture weekly; one term.
Develop interpersonal communication, presentational speaking, and interpretive listening skills in French at the intermediate level. Enhance listening skills, pronunciation, and intonation. Discuss current events and popular culture in the Francophone world. Taught in French.

Prerequisite(s): FRE 212  or four years of high school French or permission of department chair.

Note: This course is not for students who are already proficient in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in French.

Course Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to: 

  1. Interact and negotiate meaning in conversations by sharing information, feelings, and opinions.
  2. Combine a variety of grammar structures and vocabulary to respond to written and oral prompts about a variety of topics.
  3. Present information, concepts, and ideas to inform, explain, persuade, and narrate a variety of topics.
  4. Develop enhanced cultural awareness by studying the products, practices, and perspectives of Francophone cultures.
