RUS 221 - Intermediate Russian Conversation3 credit hours - Three hours weekly; one term. Develop spoken fluency in intermediate Russian by engaging in everyday speaking situations. Enhance listening skills, pronunciation, and intonation.
Prerequisite(s): RUS 212 or four years of high school Russian or permission of department chair.
Note: This course is not for students who are already proficient in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Russian. In some cases, heritage speakers of Russian may enroll with permission of department chair.
Course Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Interact and negotiate meaning in conversations by sharing information, feelings, and opinions.
- Combine a variety of grammar structures and vocabulary to respond to written and oral prompts about a variety of topics.
- Present information, concepts, and ideas to inform, explain, persuade, and narrate a variety of topics.
- Develop enhanced cultural awareness by studying the products, practices, and perspectives of Russian-speaking cultures.
