Explore the past and its impact on the present and the future. Examine global history from pre-history to the Renaissance and the Age of Discovery to evaluate the networks and interactions that connected Europe, Asia, and Africa. Analyze societal changes and continuities in culture, politics, economics, and diplomacy.
Prerequisite(s): Eligibility for ENG 101 /ENG 101A .

Course Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the diverse cultures and histories of major global civilizations prior to 1500 C.E.
- Identify key events in the areas of political, social and/or cultural development between the rise of the earliest civilizations and the Age of Exploration.
- Recognize the impact of natural environments on how and why societies functioned through the centuries.
- Survey interactions and exchanges including trade, migration, and conflicts between different cultures throughout history.
- Reinforce knowledge presented in the course concerning political, economic, social, intellectual, and religious systems from ancient times to 1500 C.E.
- Evaluate the influence of the ancient world on today’s society.
