ELL 120 - Capstone Reading and Writing3 credit hours - Three hours weekly; one term. Formerly ELL 320 - Capstone Reading and Writing
This course meets the Arts & Humanities General Education Requirement.
Apply reading comprehension skills in English. Employ the writing process in the U.S. higher education context. Compose research-based essays using complex sentences, discipline-specific vocabulary, and English syntax and grammar.
Prerequisite(s): ELL 317 or Accuplacer ESL/LOEP WritePlacer score of 4.
Note: This course is not for students whose first and/or primary language is English. A grade of at least C is required to enroll in ENG 101 .

Course Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Apply critical reading skills, strategies, and processes to improve comprehension of various texts in the U.S. higher education context.
- Increase discipline-specific and global vocabulary.
- Integrate vocabulary, grammar, and syntax to produce three or more essays.
- Employ the writing process to develop the whole essay, the body of the essay, and sentence complexity.
