PHE 101 - Kettlebells

1 credit hour - Two hours weekly; one term.
Explore this introductory kettlebell course to improve physical fitness. Students will learn the basics of the deadlift, swing (two and one-handed), the Turkish get-up, squat, clean, press, and more. Experience a full body workout while building strength, endurance, and conditioning. Students will be introduced to mobility/flexibility drills, skill drills, kettlebell complexes/chains, and finishers. No prior experience is required. Lab fee $15.

Course Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to:

  1. Identify and discuss the general history, philosophy, and methodology of kettlebell training.
  2. Identify, discuss, and demonstrate kettlebell safety.
  3. Demonstrate the use of mobility complexes.
  4. Demonstrate the proper usage of the kettlebell using appropriate exercise guidelines and techniques.
  5. Design a kettlebell training program specific to the individual’s fitness needs and goals.
