PSY 219 - Psychology of Gender3 credit hours - Three hours lecture weekly; one term This course meets the Diversity Requirement.
Explore the psychology of gender, including historical views, research methods, and current theories. Examine gender roles, communication, relationships, and the impact of gender on health, with the aim of enhancing understanding of gender similarities, differences, and their effects on psychological well-being.
Prerequisite(s): PSY 111 or permission of department chair.

Course Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Define and apply key terms related to sex, gender, and cultural considerations in the psychology of gender.
- Describe historical and contemporary research methods used in the psychology of gender and identify challenges and biases in gender research.
- Discuss gender roles, stereotypes, and biases, and explain their effects on attitudes, behaviors, and social expectations.
- Apply knowledge of psychological theories related to gender in the areas of development, relationships, achievement, and health.
