ACH 242 - Health and Sustainability in the Built Environment3 credit hours - One hour of lecture and four hours of laboratory weekly; one term. This course meets the Wellness Requirement.
Explore how buildings impact human health, well-being, and environmental performance. Assess healthy interior and exterior environments and their influence on communities and society. Examine sustainable design principles and industry frameworks including LEED Rating System and WELL Building Standard. Evaluate building systems, materials, and integrated design and construction strategies used to achieve sustainable, high-performance, and healthy built environments. Lab fee $20.

Course Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. Explain LEED Green Building Rating System and its health and wellness benefits to the individual and community
2. Examine the effects of the site on the health and wellness of the individual, built environment, and community
3. Analyze environmental factors affecting the health and wellness of the individual, built environment, and community
4. Apply sustainable design strategies for the healh and wellness of the individual, built environment, and community
