CJS 214 - Physical Conditioning for Law Enforcement1 credit hour - Two hours weekly; one term. Formerly PHE 214-Physical Conditioning for Law Enforcement and Firefighter/Rescue Service Personnel
Enables prospective law enforcement officers to develop physical fitness. Intensive fitness training regimes prepare for the rigorous physical demands of these occupations. This course emphasizes muscular strength and endurance training, cardiovascular conditioning and flexibility exercises. Students will work on individual weight training programs as a participant in group conditioning activities.
Course Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Develop a fitness level that will allow them to successfully complete the specific physical fitness tests for their prospective occupations.
- Identify and discuss the principles and methods of training for the four major components of fitness.
- Demonstrate the proper usage of various commercial fitness equipment utlizing appropriate exercise guidelines.
- Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to develop a personal fitness program.
