SOC 111 - Introduction to Sociology

3 credit hours - Three hours weekly; one term.
This course meets the Social and Behavioral Sciences General Education Requirement. This course meets the Diversity Requirement.

Apply sociological principles and perspectives to interpret and explain everyday social life. Analyze meanings and functions of various roles individuals perform in historical and contemporary societies. Examine and discuss the lived experiences, knowledge, and histories of historically marginalized groups. Evaluate causes, consequences and comparisons of social hierarchies. Also offered as an honors course, SOC 111H .
