Arts and Sciences Transfer, Science and Premedical Professional, Plant Science - Horticulture Option, A.S.

Total Credit Hours: A minimum of 60 credit hours.

Purpose: Prepares students for transfer to four-year institutions offering Bachelor of Science degrees in various professional disciplines.

Range of Occupations

Entry into optometry, medical, dental, pharmaceutical and veterinary schools
Entry into astronomy, biology, chemistry, dietetics, horticulture, physics and environmental science areas.

This sequence incorporates all of the student’s admissions requirements for this degree and provides the student with essential notes to guide their success. General Education Requirements: 32-35 credits

An approved list of general education courses can be found in the General Education Requirements and degree program required courses section of the catalog. Choose general education courses from the following topics:

English: 3-6 credits

ENG 111 - Composition and Introduction to Literature 1 3 credit hours AND
ENG 112 - Composition and Introduction to Literature 2 3 credit hours
OR
ENG 115 - Composition and Introduction to Literature 1 for Non-Native Speakers 3 credit hours AND
ENG 116 - Composition and Introduction to Literature 2 for Non-Native Speakers 3 credit hours
OR
ENG 121 - Composition and Literature 3 credit hours
Successful completion of ENG 121 fully satisfies the college English composition general education requirements.
Students who take ENG 121 and not ENG 111 and ENG 112 may need to take an additional elective course to ensure they complete a minimum of 60 credits. These credit hours should be chose with the approval of the program coordinator.

Mathematics: 3 credits

MAT 141 - College Algebra and Trigonometry 1 3 credit hours
A higher level general education mathematics course selected from the General Education Mathematics Requirements list may be substituted for MAT 141 . Students should check the mathematics requirements of the transfer institution before selecting a course.

Social and Behavioral Sciences: 6 credits

Must select two different disciplines. See General Education Social and Behavioral Sciences Requirements for a list of approved courses.

ACH 115 - Introduction to Landscape Architecture 4 credit hours
BIO 103 - General Botany 4 credit hours
BIO 112 - Garden Management 3 credit hours
BIO 116 - Introduction to Landscaping 3 credit hours
BIO 207 - Plant Propagation 3 credit hours
BIO 215 - Restoration Ecology 3 credit hours
CHE 113 - Fundamentals of Organic and Biochemistry 4 credit hours
Electives (consult with an advisor) 1-4 credit hours
BPA 120 - Small Business Management is strongly recommended
No more than 3 credits of physical activity courses may be used as electives.
