About the Department of Computer Information Systems

Purpose:

Management Information Systems is a critical part of the strategic decision-making process in virtually all of today's public and private organizations. This certificate emphasizes management techniques and methodologies used to ensure the successful implementation and on‐going operations of information technology capabilities in business.

A grade of C or better is required in each Management Information Systems Transfer course requirement.

Certificate Graduation Requirements


To graduate with a certificate, students must have demonstrated eligibility for ENG 101  or ENG 101A . Refer to Academic Regulations on Graduation Requirements .

Program Outcomes


Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:

  1. Analyze a problem and design software using procedural and object-oriented methods. 
  2. Explain the complete System Development Lifecycle from planning and problem analysis through implementation and documentation.
  3. Demonstrate the technical writing process, including planning, inventing, drafting, revising, editing, and publishing various documents 
  4. Apply an ethical framework to situations involving information systems. 
  5.  Support the delivery of MIS within an information systems environments.
