About the Computer Information Systems Department

Purpose: This certificate provides the student with skills and knowledge for using practical tools in all stages of software development, software quality assurance, and the software testing process.  A software quality assurance analyst is concerned with gathering the requirements and documentation, source code control, code review, change management, configuration management, release management, and the actual testing of the software.

A grade of C or better is required in each Software Quality Assurance Analyst course.

Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:

1. Describe the relationships between software development activities and test activities in the software development lifecycle and explain the difference between Software Quality Assurance (SQA) and Software Quality Control (SQC)  

 2. Apply a wide variety of testing techniques and implementation strategies  

3. Design and create documents to effectively communicate ideas to technical and non-technical audiences  

       4. Write a successful test plan.
