Learn more about the Medical Coding program
Purpose: To provide eligibility status to sit for the Certified Professional Coder Examination (CPC) offered by the American Academy of Professional Coders or the Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) exam offered by the American Health Information Management Association.

Additional Program Requirements:
All Medical Coding students must receive a minimum grade of C in each medical coding course. Students who receive a final grade below a C in any medical coding course will be awarded a grade of F in that course.
Courses to improve skills and prepare for college-level classes may be needed. It is best to see an advisor as you plan your education.
All students must demonstrate eligibility for ENG 101 /ENG 101A . Refer to Academic Regulations on Graduation Requirements , “Certificate Requirements” for more information.
Special Conditions
Health Occupation Shortage: This program of study may be designated a Health Occupation Shortage Tuition Reduction Program. This means that some residents of Maryland (see the Tuition, Fees and Payments section of this catalog) enrolled in this program of study by the first day of the term may be eligible for in-county tuition rates for courses required for program completion. It is the student’s responsibility to confirm that this program still maintains a Health Occupation Shortage Program status before enrolling. Please refer to the college’s Accounts Receivable Office to confirm this designation.
