CTS 131-Networking 24 credit hours – Three hours of lecture and two hours of laboratory weekly; one term. Formerly CSI 158 - Networking 2
Describe basic switching concepts and technologies such as VLANs and trunking. Configure, monitor and troubleshoot a small switched network. Describe the purpose and operation of a router. Perform basic initial router configurations, as well as static routing, default routing, and inter-VLAN routing. Learn dynamic routing protocols, such as RIP. Describe the purpose and types of access control lists (ACLs). Describe the operations and benefits of Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) and Network Address Translation (NAT). Lab fee $100.
Prerequisite(s): CTS 130 with a grade of “C” or better or permission of department chair.
