ACH 235 - Computer Applications for Kitchen and Bath Design1 credit hour - 10 hours of lecture and 10 hours of laboratory; one term. Learn the 20/20 computer-aided design software that is used universally in the kitchen and bath industry. Includes lecture directed labs with a focus on how the software interprets manufacturers specifications, floor plans, elevation drawings and perspectives. Lab based homework and projects assigned. Lab fee $20.
Prerequisite(s): CTA 100 or CTP 103 and either ACH 202 or ACH 204 or ACH 211 or permission of department chair.
Note: Typically offered MC and OL; winter and spring terms.
Course Outcomes:
- Develop a thorough knowledge of software used in the kitchen and bath industry
- Employ the software through in-class exercises
- Fuse generic kitchen and bath software with software provided by kitchen and bath product suppliers
- Create kitchen and bath project and their working documents
- Prepare design documents using industry specific software
- Draw plans to specifications using 20/20 software
- Expand working drawings by inserting manufacturer specific specifications
- Acquaint self with the methods of inserting manufacturer’s specifications into the software
- Produce kitchen and bath projects with different outcomes through the use of multiple manufacturers’ specifications
- Investigate how to compensate in working drawings for imperfections in commercial software
- Draw kitchen and bath projects using specialized software
- Create layouts of kitchens and baths using computer applications with a focus on industry standard software
- Adhere to criteria of universal design and ADA considerations while using computer applications
