ACH 223 - History of American Architecture3 credit hours - Three hours weekly; one term. An introduction to the development of American architecture, interior design, urban design and landscape architecture from pre-colonial times to the present. Particular attention will be paid to the old and new world sources of American design, as well as to the cultural, political, economic and environmental forces that have shaped the American built environment. Lectures and discussions will be supplemented by field trips. No previous art courses are necessary.

- Describe how American domestic architectural styles have evolved from pre-colonial times to the present.
- Analyze the influence of environment, resources and new technology on the history of American architecture.
- Explain the history of industrial revolution influenced the history of American architecture.
