BIO 232 - Human Biology 2

4 credit hours - Three hours of lecture and three hours of laboratory weekly; one term.
This course meets the Biological and Physical Sciences General Education Requirement.

Study the anatomy and physiology of the circulatory, lymphatic, respiratory, urinary, muscular, digestive, endocrine and reproductive systems. Additional topics include body fluid composition, acid-base balance, electrolytes and early human development. Lab fee $15.

Prerequisite(s): BIO 231  and eligibility for ENG 101 /ENG 101A .

Note: Typically offered at MC; fall, spring, and summer terms.

Course Outcomes:
1. Name the parts of and describe the anatomy and physiology of the muscular, circulatory, lymphatic, immune, respiratory, digestive, urinary, endocrine and reproduction systems.

2. Effectively use a microscope to identify and differentiate the tissues of the human body.

3. Analyze and explain how clinical disorders affect each body system.

4. Analyze the impact of everyday personal and professional events on the human body using problem solving and critical thinking skills.

5. Apply knowledge of scientific principles to develop deeper understanding of the human body.
