BPA 134 - Retail Management3 credit hours - Three hours weekly; one term. Explore the contemporary world of retail from a managerial perspective. Learn how to describe and analyze the way retailing works, specifically the key activities and relationships. Study topics to include buyer behavior, retail strategy, and the management of people, operations and merchandise.
Note: Typically offered OL; spring term.
Course Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of how retailers develop a retail mix to build a sustainable competitive advantage.
- Analyze the financial implications of strategic retail decisions.
- Explain how the integration of merchandise management and supply chain strategies lead to excellent customer service.
- Demonstrate an understanding of decisions retailers make to satisfy customer and employee needs in a rapidly changing and competitive environment.
