BPA 173 - Managing and Valuing Workforce Diversity3 credit hours - Three hours weekly; one term. This course meets the Diversity Requirement.
Focus on how to change corporate culture and develop an understanding of diversity. Review and develop action plans for valuing diversity, examine case studies and review recent literature from periodicals.
Note: Typically offered OL; fall and spring terms.
Course Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1. Identify diversity related definitions and key legislation.
2. Assess approaches to diversity management and exemplary leaders and organizations.
3. Explore the impact of social identity, cross-cultural communication and cultural awareness in the workplace.
4. Identify and examine the challenges and needs of under-represented groups in the workplace.
5. Develop tools to understand and manage workplace diversity.
