ENG 227 - Literary Nonfiction3 credit hours - Three hours weekly; one term. This course meets the Arts & Humanities General Education Requirement.
Study representative readings in literary nonfiction. Discuss types of nonfiction writing, literary traditions and style, including the Personal Essay, Literary Journalism, Nature/Science writing, the Literary Memoir, Travel Writing and Humor.
Prerequisite(s): ENG 101 /ENG 101A or permission of the department chair.

Note: Typically offered at MC; spring term.
Course Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Define literary nonfiction and its various sub-genres;
- Recognize the various strategies, structures, and styles used by nonfiction writers;
- Write and discuss nonfiction using critical thinking and careful analysis.
