ESI 103 - Introduction to Entrepreneurship

3 credit hours - Three hours weekly; one term.
Discover and practice the components of entrepreneurship, idea generation, creative thinking and opportunity recognition. Experiment using entrepreneurial methods and evaluate potential business ideas. Compare and analyze various strategies entrepreneurs have used to start and grow their businesses. Lab fee $16.

Course Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:

a. Identify business opportunities using the eight components of the practice of entrepreneurship.

b. Discuss trends and changes that might affect potential business opportunities.

c. Use critical thinking, concept testing, and feasibility analysis to evaluate entrepreneurial opportunities.

d. Discuss the pros and cons of various strategies that entrepreneurs have used to successfully start and grow their business.

e. Discuss how business models and plans affect the overall success of an organization.
