GEO 103 - Cultural Geography3 credit hours - Three hours weekly; one term. This course meets the Social and Behavioral Sciences General Education Requirement.
Examine cultural practices as intimately woven elements of the spaces and places of everyday life through tracing how they operate in tandem with other political, economic, social, and ecological systems. Understand the application of geographic theories, both scientific and aesthetic, to rigorously explore how cultural practices continuously organize, distribute, and express the attitudes and beliefs of different cultural groups within the global human environment.
Prerequisite(s): Eligibility for ENG 101 /ENG 101A .

Course Outcomes:
- Discuss the major elements of culture, including population, language, religion, customs, political behavior, economic behavior, urbanization, and resources.
- Apply the themes of culture region, cultural diffusion, cultural ecology, cultural interaction and cultural landscape to the major elements of culture.
- Analyze the spatial distributions of the major elements of culture.
- Use maps to identify the major spatial patterns of culture.
