HEA 111 - Personal and Community Health3 credit hours - Three hours weekly; one term. This course meets the Wellness Requirement.
Identify the dimensions of wellness and the various factors that promote optimal health for individuals and their communities. Describe the current and emerging issues in health promotion and disease prevention and evaluate evidenced-based methods to control risk factors in diverse populations. Examine topics and health behavior strategies to optimize and enhance quality of life.

Course Outcomes:
- Examine the dimensions of wellness and the issues influencing aspects of each.
- Identify and demonstrate positive behavior strategies to reduce the risk for disease and promote optimal health.
- Assess personal health behaviors and create goals to promote individual wellness.
- Compare and contrast the impact of diversity on risk factors for disease and barriers to developing optimal health.
- Evaluate resources that promote and influence health and wellness of the individual and community.
