HIT 113 - Introduction to Health Information Technology 22 credit hours - 30 hours of lecture; one term. Learn electronic health information systems, their design and implementation. Continue to build on knowledge of imaging technology, information security and integrity, data dictionaries, modeling and warehousing to meet health care system needs. Apply policies/procedures to facilitate electronic health records and other administrative applications. Learn leadership and compliance principles related to health information management, as well as current trends in health information management.
Prerequisite(s): HIT 111 with a grade of C or better.
Course Outcomes:
- Define electronic medical records.
- Identify the components of a medical record.
- Synthesize and apply course concepts in the maintenance of medical records.
- Apply course concepts in the use of electronic medical records software.
