HUS 217 - Fieldwork: Theories of Counseling3 credit hours - 125 hours of supervised fieldwork and 90 minutes of lecture weekly; one term. Gain supervised fieldwork placement experience. Implement theories and techniques learned in the lecture class. Lab fee $15.
Prerequisite(s): HUS 115 .
Corequisite(s): HUS 216 or permission of department chair.
Note: Typically offered at AM and MC; fall and spring terms.
Course Outcomes:
- Develop a beginning understanding of the human services delivery processes and experience the professional world of human services.
- Develop basic practice skills for working within the human services profession.
- Develop basic practice skills in interviewing, assessment, and communication within the human services profession.
- Discuss fieldwork issues and experiences with peers.
- Identify the ethical, legal and professional issues that they may encounter in the helping process.
