MAS 118 - Business for Bodyworkers2 credit hours - 30 hours of lecture; one term. Learn the foundation of successfully managing a bodywork business. Addresses Federal and State taxes and reporting (including Social Security and Medicare), record keeping, accounting, business structures, developing a business plan, marketing, being or hiring an independent contractor, third party billing and accepting credit cards. Students will prepare and present a financial business plan for their business. Provides 30 continuing education hours for NCBTMB and State of Maryland massage therapists.

Course Outcomes:

- Access Federal and State web pages relative to Income and Sales Tax
- Access EFTPS to set up electronic payment ability
- Summarize issues of Independent Contractor status from a legal and tax perspective
