PSY 215 - Psychology of Relationships

3 credit hours - Three hours weekly; one term.
A critical examination of human relationships including topics of love, friendship, gender, sexual orientation, cultural considerations, attraction, and conflict. Research, theories and practical applications for relationships and communication will be included.

Prerequisite(s): PSY 111 or permission of department chair.

Course Outcomes:

Discuss the influential theories and analyze research in the field of relationship psychology.
Demonstrate an understanding of how personality and development influence communication in relationships.
Identify the causes of conflict, infidelity, aggression, and relationship violence from a culturally equitable viewpoint.
Compare and contrast intimate relationship experiences from diverse perspectives.
Identify how stress from personal experiences, disability, health challenges, finances, and culture impact relationships.
Explain how relationships change across the lifespan.
