FRE 213 - Intermediate French Grammar Review and Composition

3 credit hours - Three hours weekly; one term.
Reviews grammatical usage of French, including present, past, imperfect, past perfect and future verb tenses, prepositions, articles, negation, interrogation, comparative and superlative forms of adjectives and adverbs, personal subject and object pronouns. Training in guided composition is a significant component in the course.

Prerequisite(s): FRE 212  or four years of high school French or permission of the department chair.

Note: Not for native speakers.

Course Outcomes:
At the conclusion of this course the student will be able to:

a. demonstrate correct usage of French grammatical structures.

b. write clear sentences in French.

c. write paragraphs in French, using expanded vocabulary.

d. demonstrate comprehension of written literary and cultural passages in French.

e. gain an appreciation of the various cultures whose native language is French.
