GER 112 - Elementary German 23 credit hours - Three hours weekly; one term. This course meets the Arts & Humanities General Education Requirement.
Build upon knowledge learned in GER 111 with emphasis on speaking, listening, reading and writing.
Prerequisite(s): GER 111 or one year of high school German or permission of department chair.
Note: Not for native speakers. Typically offered MC and OL; fall and spring terms.
Course Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1. Speak German with correct pronunciation and intonation, and with sufficient fluency to be able to participate in a classroom conversation.
2. Read German stories at the beginning level, as well as authentic materials such as menus, train schedules, magazine ads, etc.
3. Write short passages in German relating to daily activities.
4. Understand some of the culture of German-speaking countries.
