SPA 211 - Intermediate Spanish 13 credit hours - Three hours weekly; one term. This course meets the Arts & Humanities General Education Requirement.
Build vocabulary and grammar skills for the purpose of reading, writing, listening and speaking. Discuss aspects of Spanish and Spanish-American culture.
Prerequisite(s): SPA 112 or SPA 119 or SPA 141 or two years of high school Spanish or permission of department chair.
Crosslisted: Also offered as SPA 211H ; credit is not given for both SPA 211 and SPA 211H .
Note: Not for native speakers. Typically offered at MC, AM, and OL; all terms.
Course Outcomes:
- Identify the main idea and key information in short, straightforward written and spoken conversations and informational and fictional texts.
- Request and provide information in conversations on familiar topics by creating simple sentences and asking appropriate follow-up questions.
- Present personal information about my life, activities and events, using simple sentences through spoken and written language.
- Combine a variety of grammar structures and vocabulary to respond to a range of low intermediate-level writing and speaking prompts.
- Formulate comparisons between the cultural products, practices, and perspectives of Spanish-speaking cultures and those of my own.
