ART 138 - Metal Art Fabrication

3 credit hours - Two hours of lecture and two hours lab weekly; one term.
Explore basic and advanced techniques and processes related to metal fabrication and sculptural forms. Learn welding techniques, metal forming, and a variety of metal surface applications.  Create conceptual artworks with metal art techniques, and practice processes including metal casting. Lab fee $75.

Note: Typically offered at MC; fall, spring, and summer terms.

2.  Sketch sculptural concepts based on metal art fabrication processes

3.  Produce sculptural compositions using variety of metals art fabrication, techniques and processes

5.  Apply recommended studio safety guidelines

6.  Categorize materials and tools use metal art fabrication

7.  Assess equipment settings related to welding, cutting, and shaping metals

8.  Critique work in progress, completed sculptural compositions, and formulate dialogues using appropriate terminology

9. Identify structural and aesthetic properties of metals
