CTA 100H - Computing and Information Technology - Honors

4 credit hours - Four hours of lecture and directed laboratory weekly; one term.
Formerly CSI 112H - Computing and Information Technology, Honors This is an honors course.

This course meets the Technology Requirement.

Learn computing and information technology concepts and skills that are fundamental to social, personal, business, and academic environments. Learn about the Internet, networking, hardware, software, security, privacy, ethics, and emerging technologies. Participate in hands-on labs using Microsoft Office applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentations, and the Windows operating system. Designed for the nonmajor.

Prerequisite(s): Eligibility for honors courses and ENG 101 /ENG 101A .

Course Outcomes:
1.       Apply computing and information technology concepts and skills that are fundamental to social, personal, business, and academic environments.

2.       Discuss how technology issues in the areas of the Internet, networking, hardware, software, security, privacy, ethics, ergonomics and emerging technologies affect the community, including their impact on diversity issues and cultural awareness.

3.       Describe the relationship between technology and other disciplines and career fields.

4.       Use proficiently a variety of commonly used application, word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, database, and digital media editing software.
